MISSION: 25 Gifts Before the New Year–Part One
In the wake of last week’s horrific and devastating events in Connecticut, I feel more and more convicted in my quest to promote kindness. My heart, like that of yours, is broken. And all I want is to scoop up the whole world and care for it. Show it love. Show it that kindness and peace are the only way. I want everyone to be okay.
But that’s impossible, I understand. And so, for now, I will continue this project, and I will continue to be inspired by each of you who pass by my way to share a word, a mission, an act of kindness, a story that brings hope to our dark and broken country and world.
Thank you for actively choosing peace.

SAL,
Ever heard of “25 Days of Christmas”? I decided that my first mission will be called “25 Gifts Before the New Year”. Life is so stressful this time of the year. I aimed for my cards to help people relax and have fun during their holiday season. Here is part one of the mission:
Mission: 25 Gifts Before the New Year, Part I
For the first part of the mission, I bought a pack of blank cards with two cats hugging on the front. Aren’t they cute?
Then, I purchased five $5 Starbucks gift cards and one Starbucks VIA sample pack. Other supplies included quotable pictures (thanks to Pinterest) and some cash.
I included pictures of some of the cards and my first 8 envelopes, ready to be hidden. Five of the little envelopes have the gift cards, two of the little envelopes have cash, and the big envelope has the VIA sample pack.
Location #1: The Galleria, Mt. Lebanon PA, 12/7/12
I left three at and around the Galleria. Each contained a card and a Starbucks gift card. One was left in a bathroom stall, one in an elevator, and one on a car windshield. Pictures are attached.
Location #2: Office building, Mt. Lebanon Blvd, Mt. Lebanon PA, 12/11/12
Unfortunately I forgot my phone, so I don’t have any pictures of this part of the mission. I left three envelopes containing a card and a Starbucks gift card in the two stairways in the building. One was on a windowsill and two were taped to door handles.
Location #3: California University of Pennsylvania, California PA, 12/11/12
An envelope containing $2 and a note saying “have a treat on me” was taped to a vending machine in the Frich biology building, first floor. Another envelope with $5 and a card was left on a random car in the Vulcan Parking Garage. A picture of the vending machine is attached. Unfortunately, iPhone cameras are difficult to operate when your hands are frozen… so I don’t have a picture of that part of the mission either.

Brilliant!
Very nice idea! I feel the same way Laura! Even with all the ugliness and sadness in the world.. even a small thing makes a huge difference! <3
I wish there were some way to clone you, and to put a little bit of your heart into everybody else’s. We’d have a much, much better world. God bless you and bring you joy and peace this holiday and in the coming year.

Great mission! Absolutely love it! I think there is a lot of hurt in the world right now, and in all of our hearts, given the situation in CT. Every little bit of love and kindness helps and I really do believe people who receive a gift of kindness do feel the need to pay it forward. So the cycle continues.
Thanks, Laura, for spreading love and joy in your part of the world…and look how it has spread to other parts of the world just because you take the time to do what you do. God bless us all! xoxo
great job, s! what an awesome first mission! xx
