MISSION: Hope and Happiness for a High School

I remember high school. And I can tell you this: I wouldn’t ever want to go back. I got made fun of, talked about, ignored even. It was rough. Sure, I had some really great friends, but they got made fun of, too. High school is just plain hard. So when Affiliated Agent A decided to try to make it easier for a few people through her missions of kindness, I knew we had a good one on our hands.

Hopefully, her acts of kindness inspired her classmates to choose kindness towards one another while walking the halls of their high school.

OPERATIVE:
Affiliated Agent A

LOCATION:
Easton High School
Easton, Maryland

TIME:
approximately 7:45 a.m.

Lately, I have realized so many people in my school have been in a funk. So last night I decided to do to make 3 cards as my little act of kindness. The first one started on a bad note, my markers seemed to be dry and my creativity just wasn’t where it usually is, but by the last card I felt proud of myself. In the first card, it had a free Rita’s coupon and some words of encouragement. The second had a lolly pop on the front and the third was a collage, so I felt like it didn’t need anything else with it.

In a school with over one thousand students, I had to do it during homeroom so I would not get caught. I can defiantly say it was an adrenaline rush to take out my phone to take the pictures, because of the high risk of getting caught and possibly get it taken away. I got through the first two easily and without seeing anyone. However after I set down the last one in the stairwell, I heard hard footsteps and I was caught by a teacher. Although that didn’t get in my way, I still wish my mission had gone flawlessly.

Throughout the school day, I briefly glanced at each spot to see if they had been picked up and they had, which was an amazing feeling. I even heard a group of people talking about it in the hallway! Nonetheless, I hope that whoever received the cards liked them because my school can get pretty tough sometimes.

  • I love this! High school was such a crazy time, and little bits of kindness make it all better. Kudos!

  • I bet you made someones day. I remembered high school. Mine wasn’t that bad since I talk a lot and made lots of friends. Still there tons of kids that are just depressed in school. That’s an awesome idea.

  • It’s so great to see people of all ages getting involved in this kind of movement!

  • i had a rough time in high school too and would never want to go back — not even to a reunion. i realize many years later that everyone was insecure, they just masked it in different way (ala bullying, teasing, ignoring, shyness…..)
i love that affiliated agent a took the high road to make someone else’s day better!

  • I attempted to post this on your Facebook page, but of course it is more than 1,000 characters! LOL

You know, I just want you to know that even though I’m a classic lurker, I have been following you for over a year now thanks to Nate and It Starts With Us. I actually found you at a time when I was pretty much losing all faith in the greater good of humanity, and not that I always know it is there even now, but what you and your secret agents do on a daily basis reminds me that there truly are people who just LIKE to do kind things…for no reason at all. I sometimes forget the mission I have charged myself with – to spread positive (I call it a Positivolution…as in Positive + Revolution), but every time I see a mission post, it reminds me that we all have the ability to change the world, even if it is just one person at a time. Just know that you are so appreciated and even though you may never know the full impact of what you do, and will NEVER receive the amount of thanks that you should, that you inspire people. Yeah – YOU! Keep it up girlie and when you can’t keep it going any longer, there are others in the wings waiting to help carry your dream forward. :-) You threw the rock into the water, and the ripples are still going.

  • Great job Agent A! I hope that your actions will inspire other young people to get involved too. I have some students from my high school who have become agents and it had made a positive impact on their lives. Keep up the great work!
