MISSION: Spreading Love in Livermore
Valentine’s Day has come and gone, yes. But love–shown to all our fellow human beings–never goes out of date. This lovely mission came into my inbox just a couple days before I took my sabbatical. Now that I’m back, I want to share the love.
Even in March.
DATE:
Monday, 14 February 2011
OPERATIVE:
Affiliated Agent A
LOCATIONS:
bus stop, downtown, Starbucks
Livermore, California
TIME:
between 5:25 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Affiliated Agent A and Sidekick B wanted to do something on Valentine’s Day for some of our fellow citizens and let someone know that they were “loved” today and always.
We filled four bags each containing a small notebook with two pencils and a pencil sharpener. The bags were covered with Valentine’s stickers and a card.
This was the first mission for Sidekick B. Sidekick B decided where two of the drop off locations would be. Sidekick B was very afraid about getting caught. It was amusing, since Sidekick B stayed in the car and told Affiliated Agent A were to place the bags.
One drop off location was downtown. There is always a lot of foot-traffic at night, so we figured this would be a good place to watch and see if someone picked up the bag. There must have been about 30 people that walked by the package either looking at it or just not noticing at all. It seemed that the children noticed the packages immediately, but the parents kept going and calling the children to go with them. We had a wonderful time trying to figure out who might find it. On Valentine’s Day, the city allows horse carriage rides that go through downtown. It was “oh so nice” to see this as we waited. It was starting to get dark and still no takers. We had to drop off two more bags so off we went.
Sidekick B wanted a cup coffee so we stopped at Starbucks. Affiliated Agent A left a bag in the restroom and Sidekick B left a bag on a table just outside the entrance. We waited in the car while sipping our drinks to see if anyone noticed the package outside. No one did, so we decided it was time to go home.
I hope that there was a little more love spread throughout our home town and everywhere yesterday.
I’m sure there was, Affiliated Agent A (and Sidekick B!). Thank YOU for choosing to spread it.
